Abstract

For Christian theology, the reflection of the tragedy of the Shoah after 1945 marks the beginning of a decisive turning point in the definition of its position on Judaism and, thus, on the first part of its Holy Scriptures, the Old Testament or Hebrew Bible. The “Jewish-Christian” dialogue represents an essential result of this change of thought. This paper will focus on four selected “Jewish-Christian” Bible study weeks at the grass roots in the German-speaking sphere and on aspects of their Bible reception, especially their reception of prophetic scriptures. The reception of the Book of Jeremiah within one specific Bible study week – the Jewish-Christian Bible Week of Bendorf – will illustrate the issue.
