Archäologie und die israelitische Gesellschaft der Königszeit. Ein Forschungsüberblick

Abstract

Considerable parts of the Old Testament are concerned with Israel and Judah as monarchies. The historical books as well as the prophets show a critical view on the society of this time. This essay wants to point out the contributions of archaeology to the question of the Israelite society in monarchic times. Especially the size and equipment of the buildings, public ones as well as private houses, and different agricultural installations in the villages must be considered dealing with this problem.
