The article deals with contextual exegesis and its capability to make up one’s mind on the so called “refugee crisis” (EU since 2014). First, I explain the term “contextual exegesis”. After presenting the biblical references also some political keywords of the crisis are introduced. Then I patch both aspects and ask, whether Jesus or Jeremiah would gain an asylum status in EU today or not. Finally, the chances and limits of this kind of exegesis are discussed as well as some ethical aspects gained by this small study.
