Abstract

The article offers a content-related overview of the Egypt-related texts in the collections of the oracles against foreign nations in the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Egypt appears there as a threatening power, whose decline has already begun and which can therefore no longer be trusted. In a final consideration, the rich imagery of the texts and what they have in common in the three books is examined. In the Egyptian related texts, Israel can always recalibrate its worldview and the horizon of the historical power of its God in the course of history.
