Abstract

In the Gospel of John, in the conversations that Jesus has with his disciples at the Last Supper, there are two references to the peace that Jesus promises and which can also be realised in the midst of adversity. Furthermore, the appearances of the risen Jesus are characterised by the promise of peace. The peace that believers in Jesus have is inseparable from a personal bond with him.
